About 121 Retreat

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?  My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.

- Psalm 121:1-2

Our Story

We believe God was preparing the way for 121 Retreat long before it ever became an idea in our minds. For more than a decade, we have served faithfully in a variety of ministry roles. From the earliest days of our marriage, our shared prayer has echoed the words of Isaiah 6:8: “Here I am. Send me.”

In 2020, we sensed the Lord calling us to step away from what was familiar and move from Alabama to Colorado. The decision was unexpected, but we chose to walk in faith, trusting that God was leading us into something good. That step of obedience marked a turning point in our lives. Living in Colorado and spending intentional time outdoors has deepened our relationship with God in powerful ways.

Throughout the Gospels, we see Jesus Himself withdrawing to the stillness of the wilderness to pray, rest, and seek guidance from the Father. Following His example, the mission of 121 Retreat is to create space for refinement, refreshment, and renewal through intentional time with the Lord, set within the beauty and wonder of His creation.

121 Retreat is where our passion for ministry and the outdoors converge. It is a place to step away from the noise, slow down, and encounter God in a fresh and transformative way. We believe He is already at work, preparing hearts and drawing people closer to Himself, and we are honored to be part of that journey.

Our Vision

121 Retreat provides a space for guests to be renewed, refined, and refreshed. You will experience Christ-centered hospitality, awe-inspiring immersion with God’s creation, and spirit-filled space to encounter the Lord. Our prayer is that our guests will return to their communities emboldened to carry out the mission of the gospel- seeing lives changed, Christ magnified and God glorified.

Our heart is to serve ministry staff and leaders through subsidized and fully funded retreat experiences. We are able to provide these opportunities through direct donations and fundraising events as well as hosting paid trips for those outside of a ministry profession. Our vision wouldn't be possible without the continued and faithful generosity of many. Thank you for sowing into what the Lord is doing through 121 Retreat.

Refine

The process of refinement requires stepping outside of one’s comfort zone and into a territory where doubts, insecurities, and other limiting beliefs are removed; resulting in a deeper and stronger faith. At 121 Retreat, we welcome challenging activities because we know that the praise and glory of God is present when self-reliance is exhausted.

“...though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief... these have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith... may result in praise, glory and honor...” — 1 Peter 1:6–7

Refresh

God designed us to rest. And yet, in the rhythm of ministry, true rest is often overlooked. At 121 Retreat, we intentionally foster a slower pace, one that makes room for stillness, quiet, and delight in the simple things. We believe refreshment comes when we create space and time to be with God without an agenda.

“By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested…” — Genesis 2:2

Renew

The Christian life comes with challenges and struggles, but the Lord creates space for renewal. As believers, we are called to draw strength from Christ to carry out his will for our lives. At 121 Retreat, visitors will immerse themselves in an environment to escape the patterns of the world and leave with a renewed perspective and relationship with our Heavenly Father.

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” — Romans 12:2

Statement of Beliefs

The Trinity
We believe in one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each person of the Trinity is fully God, co-equal and co-eternal, sharing in the same divine essence. The Father, the creator of all things, sent the Son, Jesus Christ, who is fully God and fully man, to redeem humanity through His death and resurrection. The Holy Spirit empowers believers to live in accordance with God's will and equips them for service in His Kingdom.
John 1:1-5, John 10:30, Matthew 28:18-20
The Bible is the Living Word of God
We affirm that the Bible is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. It is the ultimate guide for faith and practice, revealing God's character, His redemptive plan for humanity, and His call for us to live in obedience to Him. The Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, are relevant for all generations and provide wisdom, comfort, and instruction for every aspect of life.
